An engineer doesn’t walk on thin ice. The right strategy for solving a problem only comes about after a thorough analysis. Advising clients well also means that there is a shared view of the problem and the associated solutions. Including the client in the result of the analysis is essential for a good understanding of the proposed solution.

One of my hobbies is chess. Chess comes in different forms, each with its own dynamics. A good analysis with accompanying possible solutions occurs in all forms. This is also how I see the assignments with our clients. We can come up with a very good strategy but it depends on the primary process of the client and the dynamics of the organisation to determine whether that solution really fits well. Once a solution direction has been chosen together with the client, we build on it. This is regularly tested against the objectives that were agreed beforehand.
